Platform Updates (April 2026)
- Instagram: Officially limited hashtags to 5 per post. The algorithm now relies on semantic signals (on-screen text and audio transcripts) for discoverability. “Views” is now the unified primary metric across all formats.
- TikTok: US TikTok Shop revenue is on track for $87B this year. “Search Ads” are dominant; 60% of Gen Z now starts product discovery on TikTok rather than Google.
- YouTube: “Shorts Carousels” (image-only) are now native. AI-dubbing for global reach is standard. A new “Auto-Tagging” system scans video frames and automatically inserts shoppable links.
