Platform Updates (April 2026)

  • Instagram: Officially limited hashtags to 5 per post. The algorithm now relies on semantic signals (on-screen text and audio transcripts) for SEO. “Views” is now the unified primary metric across Reels, Stories, and Photos.
  • TikTok: US TikTok Shop revenue is now on track for $87B this year. Search Ads have become the fastest-growing revenue segment as 60% of Gen Z now uses TikTok as their primary search engine.
  • YouTube: “Shorts Carousels” (image-only) are now native. YouTube has launched a “Auto-Tagging” feature that uses AI to scan video frames and automatically insert shoppable product links.
