Platform Updates (May 2026)

  • Instagram: The algorithm now prioritizes Watch Time + Send Rate above all else. A major shift allows public photos/videos to be indexed by search engines, effectively making Instagram content searchable on Google.
  • TikTok: US TikTok Shop revenue is on track for $112B this year. “Search Ads” are now the dominant ad unit; 60% of Gen Z starts product discovery on TikTok rather than Google.
  • YouTube: “Shorts Carousels” (image-only) have fully rolled out to compete with Instagram. YouTube has launched a native AI-dubbing suite that effectively makes every creator a global channel by default.
